In a collaboration between ORF Radiokulturhaus (Austrian national broadcast) and Jeunesse Vienna I had the privilege to stage and record a portrait concert, which has been broadcast on Ö1 radio May 14, 2018.
The program consisted of a range of pieces from 2011 to today, including the premiere of new ensemble piece Triad Hihat. Other pieces performed were Stift & Papier I, Stift & Papier II, Vektorium, Tandem Trapez, Ping Pol, Flugmagnet, Slope Motion, Triad Hihat.
Performing ensemble was the Viennese Platypus Ensemble under musical direction of Yalda Zamani, and with several guest musicians, among them Jon Heilbron, Alvaro Collao León, Matej Bunderla-Havaj, Manuel Alcaraz Clemente.
As part of their Call for Scores Fall 2017, the Youtube channel ScoreFollower has programmed the solo western guitar piece Ping Pol. It is now possible to listen to it and read along in their newly uploaded video:
Klangmanifeste Vienna 2018 has featured the piece/installation “Whispers”, an ad-hoc recording studio, where a melody is imitated by the visitors of the exhibition. 24 singers and non-singers took part. All the recordings of the melodies were then played later as part of the official concert, along with a live performance of “Ping Pol“, a solo steelstring guitar piece. It all happened on the 17 January 2018 in Echoraum, starting at 18:00, with the main performance at 22:00.
As part of their “next to recherche” program, the wonderful ensemble recherche have premiered my ensemble piece “Flugmagnet” on November 11, 2017 in Freiburg. A video can be watched here.
Starting December of 2016, I had the pleasure of working with them through several project phases, doing tryouts, approaching the piece from different angles. It has been of big satisfaction being able to draw from the huge experience of the ensemble.
Flugmagnet is composed for Percussion, Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Violoncello. This is Christian Dierstein, Martin Fahlenbock, Shizuyo Oka, Melise Mellinger, Åsa Åkeberg.
During an intense week of the musical gathering Verantwortung 3000 I led a group of musicians through different kinds of simple setups, experiments and pieces of mine. You can listen to them here. All the details of the pieces are in the descriptions of the tracks.
“Patterns in the Courtyard” has been played by Malte Kobel in his wonderful radio show Vibration Totale on BCR . The smooth transition into it starts at around 12:05:
