During an intense week of the musical gathering Verantwortung 3000 I led a group of musicians through different kinds of simple setups, experiments and pieces of mine. You can listen to them here. All the details of the pieces are in the descriptions of the tracks.
A proper home recording of Ping Pol is now on my Soundcloud!
It has been a pleasure to work with Patrick and Geoff on a new duo for Alto and Baritone Saxophone. Premiere was on the 10 Oct in Biel, with another performance on the 12th in Basel.
They also made a wonderfully sounding recording in their studio
I am very happy to announce that the European-wide Ulysses Network / IRCAM artistic committee has selected me as Promising Young Composer. This will enable me to take a journey of residencies all over Europe throughout the years 2017-2020.
Needless to say I am very excited for about this and am looking forward to travelling a lot in the upcoming years!
The site-specific piece Pawlow for 6 performers has been performed at the Festival für Neue Musik Rümlingen 2016. It is a piece for real and for “fake” bells.
The fake bells are little speakers hidden underneath the clothes of the performers, imitating a bell sound. At the same time, a real bell is played, but it is fully muted. This way, the combination of the hidden speaker and the real, but muted bell creates a distorted representation of the instrument.
Performers: Noëmi Schwank, Antonio Jiménez-Marín, Stav Szirani, Linus Neulinger, Camille Henrot, Mauro Hertig
An excerpt from Südkurier about the performance:
„The ears open up. The noises grow bigger. At some point, everyone stops talking. (…) Silence, eavesdropping. One hears the steps on the moist ground and the trousers as they swish while walking. One never hears this during daytime. Far away, a chirr starts and soon covers the whole clearing which now opens up in front of us. Something rings from behind at the edge of the forrest, it crosses the meadow like a ghost light. Right until somebody passes us with a headlamp and hand bell. Sometimes it is so simple what appeared so mysterious in the dark“
My cello miniature “Velo” has been premiered by the mighty Tomasz Skweres on June 4 in Echoraum in Vienna. It was part of Ensemble Platypus‘ concert series “Im Banne der Anderen” and will be performed again in Winter 2016.
